public event calendar part 2

If I use the work around Brian described, can I prevent the "public" user from being able to delete and edit other events on the calendar?

Unfortunately, in this case, they would have full control to add, modify and remove events. Version 5 wasn't designed specifically for your requirement. However, this should be an option later in Version 6.
