Version 6 is now released!

Upgrading:

If you purchased Version 5, you will be entitled to upgrade at a greatly reduced rate once Version 6 is released. You will only pay the difference between the price you paid for Version 5 plus a small processing charge.

Brian,

That looks sweet. I can't wait to get that up and running on our server. :thumbs_up

I am anxious to purchase the software and am wondering if you could give some idea when it will be ready.

I love what I see thus far, but don't want to jump the gun too soon. It is so close to the end of the year already, which seems to be the projected release date.

I read somewhere on here that it was probably going to be after the first of the year.

I could be wrong though.

I would like to have this finished by the end of the year, but I have been unexpectedly inundated with work these past few weeks and it looks to continue through at least the end of the year (the calendar is just one of many different jobs that I do :)).

A lot of the code is in place, however, there are a few important features that I need to add before releasing the initial Version 6. I am very excited about this release and will try to have it available as soon as possible.

There will probably be a beta/trial of sorts before the release. Just keep an eye on the forums for more information.

Since it is so close to completion, will there be an option for a free upgrade to the newest version if I were to purchase the existing version now and the updated version becomes available within a certain time frame, say within 2 to 3 months or so?

Brian
12-18-2004, 12:46 PM
Version 6 will cost more than the current Version 5 (not sure exactly how much at the moment but it won't be a big change). Everyone that wants to upgrade from a previous version would need to pay the difference between their original purchase price and the cost of the new version plus a small fee to cover my processing costs.

Sounds great. One thing; would there be any loss in data during the upgrade conversion if I were to purchase the current version and upgrade to the newer version?

Brian

There are plans to write a conversion script for upgraders. :thumbs_up

Hiya Brian! :classic:

Hows the update to 6.0 goin...?
Ive been slightly jumping up and down in my seat since I first saw this post and the new comming colorsystem.

I know it's hard to set a release date or simillar...
Buuuut... Is it in the "not so close" or "closer" or "close" or "closeclose" or "any day now" area? Cant wait for it (Well...I have no choice really! But you know what I mean.)!

Sorry for asking, but I couldn't hold it in anymore since it's a new year and all and it just blurted out. :ditsy:

Since you're close and have a full working version, any chance of letting a few betas slip out?

Also, is there a mailing list that will announce the release of 6?

There will be an announcement once a Beta is available. :bigsmiley

As of now, we're still several weeks off. I've not been able to dedicate the amount of time that I had hoped for concerning development. I hope to be able to spend more time developing soon...

Please to hear about the new version, you really have produced a great product!

What features can we expect see?

For us, PLEASE PLEASE tell me you included "Location" into the calendar :) Seriously this is the one down side of your script that kills us with each entry.

Thanks for all your hardwork and most of all I like the idea of an upgrade script to help make it an easy transition.

Will Version 6 be upgraded to allow SYNCing with a PDA or Outlook Calendar?

What's pricing gonna be like for the Developers Version? Also, what's preventing one from editing the code in the regular version?

No pricing has been set, but if I had to guess, it would be less than $50 US.

Version 6 will be distributed using Zend or ionCube encoder/accelerators only. With the Developers version, all of the files (except for a few core system files) will be in the same format as they are on my development server along with all comments and proper formatting. Every file that outputs calendar information to the browser will be editable! :classic:

I'm also crossing mine and hope it will be integrated, not yet a custommer, but that is a must for a calendar for me

This is on the Wish List, however I can't say when this will be implemented.

Will the new version have the ability to import data from other calendar apps? Specifically I'm interested in importing data from Corporate Time export (iCal, vCal, CSV).

This is on the Wish List, but will not be in the initial release.

I want to manage event locations/clubs.
Is this possible?

Is this possible?

Yes. You can assign each category to a club and choose it from a drop down while entering an event. You can then filter your pages for a specific category if needed.

I would like to suggest having a seperate 'Show Navigation Table' option for the new TOC option (i.e. no nav for the original version while showing nav for the TOC version). Also, is it possible to test the wysiwyg editor in the beta version?

Brian
03-10-2005, 06:02 PM
The option to turn the navigation off is in the program (just not documented in the Beta). Try using $noNav="1"; before requiring the calendar.

Currently, the only WYSIWYG editor programed for is HTMLArea. Download it from http://www.dynarch.com/projects/htmlarea/ then upload the entire directory to the calendar directory. The editor should automatically use the editor if available. Capitalization of the directory name is very important and should be HTMLArea.

Both worked like a charm. Is there a release date yet?

So far, no one's reported any errors from the public Beta. So it should be soon? :classic:

Any word on the price for upgrades? At present, this doesn't seem to be an option on the Buy Now section.

What about upgrading to the Developer's Edition?

Brian
03-16-2005, 06:00 PM
There will be an upgrade page announced when this feature is available. Right now I'm still working on getting the rest of the site working at 100% and answering questions about the new version. It'll be a couple of weeks at least. http://www.easyphpcalendar.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi Brian,

I have to fill in our webcalendar many events for may, june and july. Do you mean, that there is a possibility of upgrading in the next 2 weeks?

If not, I have to use our "old" calendar Version 5.7 - it would be better and much nicer, to use the new calendar.

I hope, it's possible. Andreas

I maybe overlooking it but... I cannot find the page on your site where I can purchase an upgrade.

Also I was wondering if the database convertor has been completed?
( between 5.7 and version 6 )

This has been a great calendar and I am really "chomping at the bit" to upgrade to the 6.0.

Brian, you mention that a converter will be available to convert version 5 database to version 6. Is it ready yet? If so where can I get it? If not any idea as to when it wll be available?

Thanks.

Where can I find a full explained list of new features. Perhaps I am getting blind these days. Be nice to know if the upgrade is worth it, as well understand any fixes.

Additionally - Gosh, I hate to be a pest on this... Please tell me you added "Location" in the events? This could be so useful!

Your hard work is prob not as appreciated as it should be - So for whatever it is worth - Thanks again for the App!ication!

You can see a full list of changes in the changeLog.htm file, or in the announcements forum under New Releases. But, I believe if you took a look at the Online Demonstration page and try out the new event manager, you'll see some of the bigger changes. http://www.easyphpcalendar.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

There is not a specific Location area at this time. However, you could use the categories as the location until this feature is added.
