Hi everyone!

I finally found the time to test the trial version.
My question is, how limited am I by using the trial version? I should note that I am using the ionCube version since the Zend version didn't work on my OS X.

From what I've seen, it seems that I access the calendar by http://www.mydomain.com/escal/demo.php .. Here are my questions:

1.) What exactly does the showCalendar.php really do?

2.) How do I add events? It seems to me that the only way to do this is to access the events/index.php and add an event from there.. is there a way (for the trial) for me to add an event without logging in?

3.) Is this how most people use this calendar: We set a generic name & password for everyone to use. If users want to add events, do they log in with the generic name & password? Or is there some registration process that will be on the paid version?

4.) In the demo version on your web site, (http://www.easilysimplecalendar.com/demo.php), when my mouse is on top of a day where an event exists, a small window pops up with the event. Does this feature exist in the trial version (because I am not experiencing it).

Thanks so much if I can get some answers. any help would be great! :thumbs_up

My question is, how limited am I by using the trial version?

The differences between the free trial and the full version are:

Trial displays that it is a demo
Trial will expire in seven days
Only two events will display for any given month.

1.) What exactly does the showCalendar.php really do?

From a programming standpoint, showCalendar.php sets the script paths and looks for user variables to determine what content to display on the page.

2.) How do I add events? It seems to me that the only way to do this is to access the events/index.php and add an event from there.. is there a way (for the trial) for me to add an event without logging in?

The Event Manager would be the best way to add events. If you need to remove the login completely, there is a way to do this.

3.) Is this how most people use this calendar: We set a generic name & password for everyone to use. If users want to add events, do they log in with the generic name & password? Or is there some registration process that will be on the paid version?

Version 5 was designed to only have one user. There are plans to implement more users in a future version which is in development now.

4.) In the demo version on your web site, (http://www.easilysimplecalendar.com/demo.php), when my mouse is on top of a day where an event exists, a small window pops up with the event. Does this feature exist in the trial version (because I am not experiencing it).

Yes. This is in the trial. Please make sure this option is enabled in the Setup Manager. :classic:

Thanks for your detailed reply Brian (you must be very busy!)

One more question. I would like to be able to have several calendars for different events. For example, I want to have one particular calendar for renting equipment, another separate one for setting up meetings.

Can this be achieved? I am guessing "no" since we can only have one user for version 5. So that means I will be putting EVERYTHING onto one calendar.

Version 5 wasn't designed for multiple "categories" or uses. But, the next version will include this feature. More about this version can be seen here: http://www.easilysimplecalendar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2755

You can use Version 5 now and upgrade to Version 6 later...
