in setup, under general, event administration, what is the function of "listings max length"?

is there a way to limit the characters allowed in either the event title or description?

The function of the "listing max length" is only to limit how many characters are displayed. As far as I know, you're only limited by the database when it comes to how much you can enter.

have tried changing the setting but see no changes. what field(s) does it affect?

is there a way to limit the length of the title and/or description? will have multiple people entering info - for some brief is 50 characters for others 300 is brief.

That setting determines the cutoff for characters in the mouse-over pop-up window. It doesn't affect anything else.

At the moment, there isn't a way to limit the amount of data someone can enter. You may want to add this to the feature requests forum.
