I'd like to make EasyPHPCal the main body of the index page on my site. Is there a way to integrate it via the Frontpage Manager in Mambo to use the middle section of the home page?
Thanks-

Well it ALL depends upon your site's template.
If you go to modules, then mod_escal, edit it and change the placement to a position available on your template. For example, change "right" to "top" or "banner"
Some templates are made without certain positions, so we'd have to check. Do you have a live site address, what template are you using?
... off hand I cant remember which one applies to the middle, front area where news posts appear. I've been busy lately so Brian has been the one tending to these posts lately!
:chicken:
Let me know if you get anywhere, if you dont, I'll find some time tommorow to help ya out ;)
Adios,
Chuck

I'm using akogreenportal for my template.
Thanks for your help.

Hey Mike,
Was going to test it out myself real quick, but what version are you using, akogreenportal 1.0 or akogreenportal 2.0? both are available on mambohut.com btw.
Also Where are you wanting the calendar? In the middle section where the news would be? At the top, bottom, or middle of that?
Try chaning it from "left" to "top" It looked fairly decent when I did it, however maybe this exactly isnt what you want.
Maybe you should create a menu link to "calendar" and post the printable.php within that in a wrapper. Justin did it, check it out at
http://www.bethlehemcc.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=27
Notice the calendar perm. on the left, but using this as a menu link was a good idea ;)

The template is version 2.
I need the full calendar in the center--it is placed at TOP at the moment. It seems okay there and I just need to edit the CSS to make it more like the online magazine site (need the clickable event listing and calendar mode, too).
Also, is there a way to select the type of calendar you want with this module? I'd like to start with the same calendar as the demo instead of the mini-calendar.
Thanks again

Mike,
Is there anything else you want on that specific page? As for the frontpage, your going to have the calendar and one or two news posts? And yes I would say you would almost want to use the big size calendar mode which shows multiple items, OR you could take the smaller one and blow it up real big, but that would just be empty spaces no?
Just wanted to make sure your not forgetting about the features listed here http://www.easyphpcalendar.com/v6demo.php
Anyhow Lemme know,
Chuck

Yes, I want to use all the features of both mambo and calendar on the frontpage. I thought I'd resize the calendar to about 600px wide and have a link for both calendar mode (TOC) and events listing. Thats kinda critical for my application, the other mambo resources will also be used as they are meant to be.
The calendar on the front page would be a real eye catcher but given the problems I'm having (see other post) I might have to go with a separate page for the calendar.
Can I simply use the TOC command in a new module?
Thanks-

MikeV,
I have not been able to load in the calendar as a news item ever. I can position it anywhere around the news item area, just not within it. Maybe there is a way to use the wrapper component only within a certain section of a news/table page?
Either way, it seems what your still wanting is not modifying the calendar, or the module, it would be hacking the code of mambo. That would require the help of someone better than I which I'm sure you could find on mamboforge or one of the big forums.
Sorry I cant help anymore, but let me know if you get any more progress.

How does one accomplish this? Just purchased a copy of this awesome calendar script and would like to set something like this up on my client's site (whom I purchased the script for).

Hey rcomike,
I can help you with setting it up if you have minimal experience with mambo and all.
Where are you currently at, do you have the newest build of mambo installed with the easy calendar running?

Yes to both. The site is at http://www.buttorffs-training.com/ and I'm trying to get the calendar to show there similiar to the way it shows in the example here, full month with those nifty popups.

Alright first off, you need the calendar to work as a standalone product, Before you integrate it within mambo.
By viewing two of your pages, I already see it is not. Neither of the two following pages come up, both saying invalid access 19.

Have you set all your permissions correctly as stated within the installation of EasyPHPCal?
There are four files that need permissions changed once uploaded to the web server:
config.inc.php
license.php
showCalendar.php
theme/categories/categories.css
There are two popular ways to set file permissions. One is by using a FTP program and the other is by using the servers file manager (if available).
FTP: Most FTP programs set permissions the same way. Right-click on the file to be changed and select properties or permissions. Set the permissions number to 646 or check the appropriate boxes like the example below. The way this is done depends on the specific FTP program being used.
X O X
O O O
This makes the files writable by the script so the configuration changes can be saved.
NOTE: Some servers require different permissions such as 664 or 777. If the calendar script displays permission errors after trying all of these combinations, please consult your web host provider.

Re-read the EasyPHPCal installation instructions, this is not a problem with the module. Reply here after you have done the following.

Sorry about that. It seems that somehow the one file became corrupted. Both files are now working without that error.

Alrighty dude, if you want to set it up just as that other fellow did for http://www.bethlehemcc.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=27
Then you've gotta do this.
1. Download the calendar module, install it within mambo. Download the printable.php file and throw that in your calendar directory. The files are located here http://www.easyphpcalendar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3456
Which is Forum / mambo integration / sticky: updated module
2. After installing the module, edit it and change it to be Left or Right depending on your Menu layout, then publish it. Make sure it's published order is Under your menu links so it looks good.
View your website to verify it is displaying on your website.
3. Go into your Menu, add new Wrapper Link, specify the http://www.buttorffs-training.com/modules/cal/printable.php
Which would be correct if you uploaded the printable.php file to your calendar directory, as earlier specified.
4. You should be done by now, why are you still reading this!
Let me know if you encounter any problems, i'll be home this evening.

Thanks. Kinda had that before I asked here, but didn't have the $OL=1; in the printable.php file to allow for those nifty mouseovers so I kinda ended up messing things up :) One more quick thing, it seems that my menu is not showing on on the calendar page. Any wat to get that? I also need to get that calendar resized to fit that space but that's not a huge issue.

Real Quick,
Besides the calendar page not displaying the menu link, your "training" section also is not displaying the menu link.
login to mambo, go Modules, go Main Menu - Edit
On the far right, does it say "Menu Itme Links" - "All" ?
Or does it only have a few specified?
As for that calendar to be resized, that I believe can be changed from editing the printable.php file, I've gotta run, i'll check back with ya later

Well I've got it all working. BTW, disabled the small calendar from showing :) For anyone interested, the table size was set in the esstyle.css under the default template, since that's the one I'm currently using. Plan to change that now that everything is working fine.

For anyone looking at this in the future, if you get moslate then you can put the module in any content.
