add fields for advanced customization

How can we add another field to the event manager? Specifically, we would like to have "cost" added and still keep time, dates, description, short description etc.

ok so we have figured out that we can add the desired field as a category and get the desired result. However, we are not allowed to add a "$" sign or decimal signs in the cost category. Is there a workaround for this?
