I have version 5.8 flat file running with Earthlink. Earthlink did not and does not support php4, Zend etc. I had wonderful help getting the calendar up and running.

I want to upgrade using a database. How do I get someone to install the product for me? I already know I will need help since your "guide" is written with a lot of assumptions about your audience.

I'm not really sure how to respond to this as Brian has made a lot of effort to make it as easy as possible to setup the Calendar. To install version 6, the recommended way is to download the Tester script and upload it to your server. The script will then test your server to confirm that it is compatible with EPC. If it is, it will suggest two downloads - a .zip package that you can upload yourself, and an automatic installer.

I know, I read the marketing intro. You make the assumption that I understand "the obvious." You make reference to "the script." I downloaded the Tester folder, within the the folder are four files, which is "the script?"

I ran a test when I purchased 5.8, it said my host would support the calendar well, as it turned out, the code had to have extra special tweaking before it would work.

I would prefer not to go through hours of frustration. I would prefer to pay someone to install the product on Earthlink for me.

Since I already know Earthlink is not the best to use with this product (but I have no control of the choice) What host companies would you recommend? Maybe when the church decides to change, I can recommend something with less stress.

By the way, the video doesn't show how to run the "the script".

For the script, just upload the entire folder. Then go to that folder on your host. It will automatically run and check your server's configuration.

As for a recommended host, none can come with any higher recommendation for Calendar compatibility than iHostParadise.com.

The calendar is "the script". It's a program/script written in the PHP programming language.

If you download the test script and uncompress it, there is a README.txt file with the instructions on how to use it. It reads:

So, now I'm ready to upgrade to the latestversion using a database instead of the flat file. Is there a great learning curver for database beginners?

All you really need to know is how to create a user with the correct credentials for the database and the calendar will do everything else. You just need the information on the database page in the Setup Manager.

Since web hosts have different configurations, your web host provider would be best with helping you get this set up correctly. :)

Ok, I ran the "tester" I failed the Zend Optimizer but passed on the IonCube. My question, does it really matter since I am already running under 5.8? :confused:

I also tried to send my results using your submit button but, I got the message, "Page Not Found." I tried the link to download the trial version on the same page, and I got the message "Page Not Found." :ugh: Just fyi

I ran the test and failed on zend and passed on ioncube. The message said I would need extra steps to test the new version. I tried to auto install, created through the calendar folder (step 6).

I then got the dialog box stating "You entered your FTP home folder for the install on your FTP server. Please enter the URL of the install location on your web server." I entered http:// www.mtoliveokc.org/calendar (http://www.mtoliveokc.org/calendar)

But step 7 said the calendar folder was created but, it couldn't find the folder. Can you upload the trial version for me? I checked, the folder is there. It is loaded under the main directory folder of webdocs for mtoliveokc.org.

Version 5 and Version 6 of the calendar are very different and require much different server configurations to successfully operate.

This tester file is very, very old. Very, very old. Where did you get it? Have you had it for a while?
