Ads/Text displayed on Blog calendar page

We had an interesting problem with our calendar today.

On our normal/blog view pages, text was overlaid on our entire page, if we went to the folder (i.e. /calendar/). However, if we went to /calendar/index.php, the text was not there, it operated like normal. Also, if we went to IP/calendar/index.php, the text was not there.

However, the fix was to restore our entire calendar folder from a backup.

Does anyone know why this would happen?

Without seeing what the text is, it is pretty much impossible. If it was a file corruption issue, it's possible that your host moved files around (usually done to accomodate load balancing). But this being after the fact, we can't tell you the why or the how.
