Default add event manually -- from own form

I'm trying to add the ability for users to submit events, which will be stored in a database of my own making --- from which site admin can look at newly submitted events & 'OK' them... which will move the event into the ACTUAL event database.

I just wanted to know if there is anything I should be aware of when adding an event.... anything about the database structure that must be maintained, etc....

Appreciate any help,

Cheers,
Morris
