Default Cannot use a scalar value as an array

I have just implemented version 5.7 of the calendar into a website that utilizes a home grown templating engine. The code which actually inserts the calendar is in a file included in three templating files (index.php, section.php and story.php). The calendar displays fine in pages created by the index.php and story.php templates, but in pages created by section.php it is proceeded with numerous warnings of

Warning: Cannot use a scalar value as an array in /home/x/y/user734703/html/ssi/escal/functions/escal.php on line 1

An example of a page with the error is

http://www.utahscouts.org/ssi/sectio...dir=/cmission/

An example of a page without the error is

http://www.utahscouts.org/ssi/story....nstatement.txt

Also if I change to the list module and list the events individually the warnings are no longer are created.

Any idea on what the root cause of the problem might be and or what to look for in debugging section.php would be greatly appreciated.

That sound like a variable you may have created is the same as one in the calendar script and it is set in such a way that the calendar script can not longer use it in it's current state.

Can you list the variables you're using (or are there too many)?
