Default 7.0.05 to 7.0.06 Upgrade Problem

Hi,
Downloaded the latest version from the Client Area and followed the instructions in the documentation (Upgrading - Upgrading to from Version 7.0.xx).
I hadn't modified anything and removed the Install folder from the unzipped files.
Uploaded all the files to the server.
When I tried to access the calendar I received an error message that my license was corrupt or missing and to go into the settings to repair it. A logon box was presented but each time I tried to logon the same error message re-appeared along with the logon box again.
So, decided to bite-the-bullet and brought everything back to the condition before I ever installed the calendar including dropping the tables from the database.
Everything is OK now but considering the vast number of files involved with the calendar this was no five minute operation!
Just wondering if I did something wrong or missed something in the upgrade attempt?
FYI Used FileZilla to upload the app - works well.

Thanks,
Laurie

Did you:
1- keep your pre-existing config.inc.php?
2- edit the settings in the config.inc.php.new manually and renamed it to config.inc.php? or
3- re-run the install step?

One of those will be required, otherwise the calendar has no idea where its database is... which would likely give you the error message you're describing (bad license, can't login, etc...).

Hi ve9gra,

In answer to your questions:

1- keep your pre-existing config.inc.php?
No, because unless I missed some other documentation nothing has been mentioned about doing that.

2- edit the settings in the config.inc.php.new manually and renamed it to config.inc.php?
I did rename the config file but not the one I previously had only the newly supplied one.

3- re-run the install step?
No, because the upgrade documentation told me to remove that folder.

I'm sorry I am only new to this product and am relying heavily on the supplied information / documentation to find my way.

So, basically what you are saying to do is:
Save the existing config file that resides on the server?
Upload all the new stuff?
Upload the saved config back to the server?

If so, could you please add that to your upgrade documentation,

Laurie

Unzip the new version and remove the install directory then just upload everything over your current installation. (This will leave your original config.inc.php file in tact so your configuration is saved.)

Just re-read the instructions and what I posted is what should be done and that is what is in the instructions. Unzip, delete install directory and upload.

Yep! Got it!
What I did wrong was rename the config file before I uploaded it.

Sorry for the bother...............
