Default Zend Optimizer Not Installed... but it is.

We bought and installed the calendar nearly 2 months ago. Until last week, everything had been working wonderfully. Early last week, I got reports that the error message "Zend Optimizer Not Installed" had was appearing in place of all of the content on each of the pages where our calendars appear. I reviewed this website and found this article: https://www.easyphpcalendar.com/supp...kbarticleid=55 , which indicates that the problem lies on the server end.

Armed with this information, I contacted our hosting provider, gave them the information, and asked them to have a look. After some time, they called to let me know that they had checked everything out, determined that Zend Optimizer IS installed and working correctly, that all of the other issues in the above article checked out fine, and that the problem must be with the calendar files.

Skeptical, I reinstalled the calendar on Friday, April 22nd and got everything working like it should. All appeared to be fine. Yesterday afternoon, everything was still working and I was able to add event information to the calendars as normal.

This morning I got a call from our provider to let me know that the error had reappeared. I explained to them that I had reinstalled the calendar and everything was working as of yesterday afternoon.

So, I need help. Why is my calendar failing now, after running perfectly for nearly 2 months?

The calendar won't stop working for no reason. Several things could be causing your issue.

- Software on the server is being changed/upgraded causing the optimizer version to not be compatible with the changes

- You are on load balanced server(s) and some of them do not have ZO installed

- The server is having issues were ZO is failing and needs to be started again

- Someone is accidentally uploading the calendar files incorrectly or an older version is being put on the server

- There is a php.ini or .htaccess file on your account that is turning off ZO for your entire domain and/or the calendar directories

Default Tried another install...

I just used the auto-installer to set up another copy of the calendar in a test directory. I proceeded to set up an administrator account on the test calendar and was able to create a flat database. The only error I had was that the test license had expired and the calendar indicates that it is running in "limited mode".

Since I was able to set up a calendar in a test directory on our site, shouldn't this calendar also produce the Zend Optimizer error if Zend Optimizer was truly the problem?

See:

- Someone is accidentally uploading the calendar files incorrectly or an older version is being put on the server

- There is a php.ini or .htaccess file on your account that is turning off ZO for your entire domain and/or the calendar directories

Those are the only options I know that can cause your issue.

I have now done an in-place upgrade, and the calendar is currently working. I think this eliminates the php.ini/.htaccess suggestion above as a possible cause.

The files uploaded today were the current version and were uploaded via Filezilla forcing a binary upload. I don't think I paid special attention to uploading via a binary transfer previously, so let's see if doing that this time prevents future issues.

Thanks for the help.

Make sure you don't have any programs automatically uploading the calendar files (like Dreamweaver) when you make changes to your site. It will corrupt the files.

Default Calendars are down again...

Seems like I get about three days of use of the calendars and then the Zend Optimizer error returns.

Zend Optimizer error first appeared last week and was remedied by an in-place upgrade on Friday, April 22nd. On April 26th the problem reoccurred and was remedied by another in-place upgrade. And now, you guessed it, April 29th and the problem is back again.

Edits were made to our website on Wednesday and the calendar continued to work yesterday, so I don't believe that it's anything we're doing when we upload changes to our site.

I am now going to have to pull the calendar from our website until I can find an alternate solution that won't crash every few days.

I can assure you the calendar isn't doing this to itself. It's not possible. Something on your server is changing that is causing this issue.

Have you tried using the ionCube calendar files?

I hadn't tried the IonCube version, but will give that a go before giving up on easyphpcalendar.
