Default Couple things

Your program seems to do everything that my company could ask for, though I'm wondering what is required to do the following:

1. Can you limit the listing of events (Listings Module) to just one day? Issue we have is that each day will have multiple events and I am thinking of the person viewing the information and wanting to print out just that day. If they printed an entire month worth of events then you are looking at quite a bit of paper.

2. When you click on another day outside today's date you get a popup of those events. Is there a way to have it open up to a new page rather than a popup (again for printing purposes)?

3. My company has been currently using Outlook to track events in town and I was going to export this information to a text document and change the format so that it conforms to the flat-file database requirements for the calendar program. Is there an info sheet to let me know how the text document should be laid out to make this as seemless as possible or is MySQL the better route to take to handle this?

4. Oh, noticed when entering an event (Flat File Database checked), I can't have HTML links in the description. This feature only works in the MySQL version?

Thanks for your time.

Yes. Just set $listDays = x; where x is the number of days you want to display. This is done just before the require statement to show the listings module.

This will be in the next point release (6.1) which should be within the new few weeks. Users to have the option to press CTRL+P to print the contents of the on-click pop-up window. There are plans to add a Print option in this window.

The flat-file and mySQL are basically stored with the same database structure. I don't have a white sheet with details on how this data is structured, but perhaps we can work on something together to fit your needs?

4. Oh, noticed when entering an event (Flat File Database checked), I can't have HTML links in the description. This feature only works in the MySQL version?

HTML links are fully supported. If you're using the trial, make sure the Convert Links option is turned on in the Setup Manager.

Default Thanks

Thanks for your quick response and I'm glad to hear you are one step ahead on some of my suggestions. Regarding HTML links, I input some HTML code and it worked perfectly (<a href="http://www.sdisc.com">SDISC</a>). What through me off was the fact that entering an event didn't have the Word-like interface compared to your online demo. This isn't that much of an issue since we will be exporting (ideally) event information from Outlook which is another issue.

I'll take a look at the event (TXT) file and see what I can do here. Looks like the delimeter is "|". If you don't mind, I'll send you a sample of the calendar that we use (if you have Outlook) and also export it to a Tab delimited file and so you can briefly take a look at the information. From what I can gather, it might be simpler to import information to a SQL database rather than reformat the TXT file. After briefly looking at the info exported from Outlook, the date and time is displayed in different columns whereas SQL/PHP (not sure which) uses one number to determine both date and time. After looking at what might need to be accomplished to get this up and running, we might be better off hand inputting the events. Your thoughts?

The HTML editor is not included by default, but can be added later (it's not something I made). It's called HTMLArea.

Download it from http://www.dynarch.com/projects/htmlarea/ then upload the entire directory to the calendar directory. The editor should automatically use the editor if available. Capitalization of the directory name is very important and should be HTMLArea.

Brian, would it be possible for you to either:

1) allow a user to choose which WYSIWYG editor(s) to install with the calendar

or

2) host the current HTMLArea files on the EasyPHP Calendar site

or

3) just integrate HTMLArea into EasyPHP Calendar?

According to the Dynarch site, HTMLArea is still in beta, and may also change its name soon. This might play havoc with users who install it into EasyPHP calendar in the future.

Given that that project had already gone through some chaos which resulted in the program's development being forked and in it moving to a new home, I'm not sure how "reliable" the current site would be for continuing to host it, or at least sending people there to get it. From what I can tell, FCKeditor seems to be the hottest WYSIWYG text editor these days. It will go into final release soon, and already supports a multitude of languages. Just a thought...

I have plans to add support for additional editors in the future. I can't host or include them in the distribution for download from here because of bandwidth considerations.

What is the direct link to the editor you mentioned?

Default WYSIWYG editors

Well, apparently when development of HTMLArea stopped, the software was removed from the original htmlarea.com site. Instead, part of the site became a directory of (at least 73 different) WYSIWYG editors:
http://www.htmlarea.com/directory/WY...ors/index.html

The current 3.0 RC-1 version of HTMLArea continued on at dynarch: http://www.dynarch.com/projects/htmlarea/ and that program can be obtained from sourceforge.net.

...while a fork of the 3.0 version of the program became Xinha http://xinha.python-hosting.com/

FCKeditor can be seen at: http://www.fckeditor.net/ and can also be obtained from sourceforge.net.
