Arrow Version 6.2.0 Beta 1

Version 6.2.0 Beta 1 is available from http://www.phpcal.com/beta/

This Beta will work with your existing key. It is stable, but there are some features yet to be completely implemented. (The $showCat and filter are not yet included).

This should work with your existing Version 6 database.

Please download and try out the new categories feature especially and let me know your thoughts. Don't be shy. Your input will help determine the final result.

Please post your comments, ideas and suggestions in this topic. I may not respond to all posts, but your input is greatly appreciated.

Hi Brian,

My instillation runs on a Mambo based system, and I'd like into to see if the issue with the first entries for year in a repeat event has been resolved.

Can you confirm that I simply install the beta into dorecttory /public_html/modules/escal and this will update the neccessary files in the sub calendar directory, without the need to do any event reconfiguration?

Kind Regards
Dave

For an upgrade, make sure to follow the Upgrade section in the instructions file. Otherwise you will lose your configuration information... But as this is still a beta, it shouldn't replace your existing calendar just yet.

Sorry to be a pain but I've never upgraded before and am using the Zend App to install.
Are the instructions after I've put in the FTP settings and location, or are they held elsewhere?
Many thanks
Dave

Default Multiple Selections

Multiple category creation is great. When adding a new one, would it be possible to have a multiple selection option? For example, with our locations, we have 4 main clubhouses and each one has multiple areas for functions. Some of these functions utilize more than one area so I would like to designate which areas are being reserved. In my example, there are 2 instances* where this would be helpful.

Example of a real function held annually:
Category: Social
Location: Royal Palm Clubhouse
*Areas(s): Main meeting room, pool, shuffleboard, kitchen, bar-b-que court
Group: Social Committee
*Committee(s): Boat Race, Social Club

Default Category Links

Would be helpful if a link could be created from the category name to a page for the base details that don't change. These could be predetermined and then if the event itself had specific information, the link could be entered into the event details.

For example, a link from category: "Social" would go to the page about the Social Committee, location category: "Royal Palm Clubhouse" would link to the page giving the features and layout, etc.

Default Setup & Event Navigation

Would make it more user friendly if there were links from Setup Manager to/from Event Manager.

Best case would be that if the Admin used the same User Name and Password for both there would be no need to log out and then log in again. If this can't be done, then just the links would help eliminate the need to change the path in the address bar.

The Users and Event Manger pages in the Setup Manager have a link to the Event Manager at the bottom of the page. There are plans to expand how this works, but they are there.

If you use the auto-installer, you will overwrite your setting unless you choose another directory (other than calendar) to install to.

Brian, before you release this, I think that the multi-calendar generator should reset the $mo and $yr values to what was passed by command line or, to the current month and year... This will facilitate having the listing module right below a multi-calendar display.

It's not doing that now? Can you provide a link (or send it to me via a support ticket)?

Nevermind, I see that the changes aren't in that file. I'll do that now...

Wanted to let you know the result of what happened after you left the IM...

Just re-running the setup manager didn't fix it, I had to save the settings and then it worked... Then i checked the config.inc.php and it had readded the $cat[x] list (x = 1 to 20) but all empty...

Default Upgrading to the Beta Safely?

Brian,

I run on Linux and want to test the beta - I need categories.

At any rate, I understand I can download the Icon ZIP and just upload the files to my current install. Since I do not want to loose my current database what directories should be uploaded, just the templates I think. But maybe not enough.

Let me know as I don't follow the upgrade instructions clearly on this one.

Thanks,

Rick

Did you look in the Instructions file for the upgrade process? It's very detailed on what needs to be done.
