Default add event manually -- from own form

I'm trying to add the ability for users to submit events, which will be stored in a database of my own making --- from which site admin can look at newly submitted events & 'OK' them... which will move the event into the ACTUAL event database.

I just wanted to know if there is anything I should be aware of when adding an event.... anything about the database structure that must be maintained, etc....

Appreciate any help,

Cheers,
Morris

The best advice I can give is to add similar events that your users will be adding and look at the database structure to duplicate it in your own script.

Thanks Brian --

support here goes is excellent by the way.

one quick unrelated follow-up question -- just went into to start tinkering w/ my clients calendar database and noticed they had set it up to run off the 'flat-file' text fiel.... eesh. I assume that switching them over to a database at this point would mean they'd have to reenter all events?

cheers,
Morris

I thought I had hit 'quick reply', sorry --

but, if I switch from 'flat-file' events system to a database one, will I lose all events? How about categories?

Cheers,
Morris

Must be a bug with the upgrade I did earlier today to the forums because that is NOT what I typed!

I'll try again... There isn't a way to switch database types and keep all of the event data. You will be able to keep the setup and categories configuration.

Default Submit a calendar entry

Hi,

I too would like to allow a site visitor to submit a calendar event, but hold it for moderation/approval before it shows up in the online calendar. I have added a column to the epc_calendar database table for "requestapproved" status and set the default value = 0. I will create a web form which allows a user to submit the data for an event. I will also create a web page where the calendar administrator can review and individually approve all outstanding user event requests.

What I need to know is where in the code can I change the SQL WHERE statement to incorporate my new status column? Which file should I look in for the code that selects the calendar events to display? I would simply change the SQL statment to add:
WHERE requestapproved <> 0

That way, any new requests will not display until a staff member has approved the event (which will change the requestapproved status to 1.)

This post is two years old and is about an older version.

You may want to start a new thread, but what you want is being designed into the next major release.
