Default Limiting Navigation Dates

I am currently running version 6.2.11 and have tried searching without any success for the following question.

I am wanting to limit how far users can navigate on the main calendar page (using the 'next' month button below the main calendar table). I am only wanting to limit it to say January 2008 and the main reason for doing this is for fear of search engine bots being caught in a loop where they keep going through the months and then may penalise for having the same identical pages on the website (calendar integrated inside website)

Can anyone give me some ideas on where to limit this and if my thoughts are corrrect on the search engine bots?

I'll add this to the 6.3.0 release which is in development now.

Good to hear Brian and thanks for the quick reply.

Is there anything that can be done in the meantime (im more then capable of changing the files where needed) and does anyone else think this may cause problems with search engine bots?

This is something I'll need to program into the Setup Manager and the calendar generators...

You could always add a robots.txt file ... Just for the meantime I mean.

I was thinking of using a robots.txt file as well, but then the events wont be listed which would be a real shame, plus I also have the mambo module runnning on the side so it still uses the root directory which leaves it impossible to stop it right now.

Unless theres some tricky way to stop an extension in the robots.txt such yr=2006 etc?

Ill see what I can come up with because if you can it would work as a good fix for the time being.

Personally, I haven't had any issues with search engines and the calendar...

I only realised that it may be a problem when I went to generate a sitemap online for google and it started to go on forever when I realised it was going through and through the navigation links.

Will be great to see this as a feature as for myself I can see it being a slight concern for search engines.

Also I couldn't find much to do with the robots.txt file other then there is a google specific term that could work but its only going to work for google and theres doubts as to whether it will work perfectly.

When do you hope to release the 6.3.0 version? By the way I might just mention the script has been great to work with as well
