Default setting up a mambo page just for php calendar

2 things the board of directors WANT me to do:

I'm not sure if this is easy or not....

#1 making a new page in mambo that is JUST for the php calendar...
with a link on the main menu...

#2 layout the page so there is the calendar and the list view (print calendar) on the same page (not sure if this part is easy....)

any help much appreciated

I've been scouring the mambo admin area...
to make a new...section?? item??

I hope I can help you here...

I'll start with #2--when you say having both the calendar and list view, do you mean like it appears on the demo.php page? If so, then you are half way there.

Once you have a page set up showing what you want to appear, putting it on a separate page in mambo is easy. For this, you would use "Wrapper"

From Mambo Admin, select Menu, then mainmenu. Click on New. In the miscellaneous box, select Wrapper then click on Next. In Name, type the name you want to appear on the main menu, and in Wrapper Link put the URL to your page. Make sure it is published, and click Save. You should then have a new menu item on your main menu that will load your calendar in your mambo site.

If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I can show you how I did it on my site.

thanks for the help, I almost get it now

wrapper sounds like the ticket.

"from Mambo Admin, select Menu, then mainmenu. Click on New. In the miscellaneous box, select Wrapper then click on Next. In Name, type the name you want to appear on the main menu, and in Wrapper Link put the URL to your page."

not sure what URL to put here....
I currently have the phpcalendar on the HOME page
the client wants me to move the calendar to its OWN page.
and REMOVE the calendar from the home page...
so you have to click on that main menu link
which will open the calendar on its OWN page
(not on the home page like it is now)

thanks VERY much for your help.

I havn't seen demo.php page...not sure how to see that...or what that looks like, that MIGHT be what I'm after, not sure...

they want the calendar
and the "print calendar"(or "list view")
on the same page, visible together...
so you don't have to click "print calendar" to see the list view...

This might be best explained by an example that I used on my site.

If you go to my site at http://pediatricsatqueens.ca, click on Rounds and Conferences. You will see a customized List View appear on its own page. How did I do this?

First, I created a page that simply displays List View the way I want it (using the Integration instructions in the EPC documentation. This page is at http://pediatricsatqueens.ca/modules...r/thisweek.php (which corresponds to the directory where EPC is installed.) If you go to this link, you see the page completely outside of Mambo (or Joomla in my case.)

Then, once you have that page set up how you like it, then you use that URL in the Wrapper.

I assume this means that you are using the EPC module. It is easy to move it off the main menu and put it only on the new page. In Mambo admin, go to modules, and find EPC Calendar. Click on that, and on the right side you will see the options of choosing what pages the module is displayed. You can deselect the home page, and select your wrapper page.

The printable view link will still appear on your module. To get rid of that, you will need to edit the module.

Hope that helps.

THANKS again for help

Default THANKS again for help

turns out:
demo.php
is perfect

I just link to that
looks awesome

looked weird in safari at first
but I went to mambo admin area
main menu/calendar of events (our demo.php file in its wrapper)
and changed width and height parameters in mambo
to 115 percent width
and 1000 height

works great in ALL browsers

thanks again.
what's the best mambo forum by the way?
anyone? (sorry off topic probably)
there are alot of them
but none seem quite as universally popular as say "flashkit" for example...
I realize none of them WILL be as huge as flashkit at this point
but..is mamboforge? the best? I've found a ton of small forums so far..
but havn't been won over by one yet as my favorite...

are we all joomlas or mambos here??
haha
I"m getting wayyyy off topic
sorry
anyway, thanks for the help!

the calendar rocks!
solid, reliable, dependable, flexible, excellent support!
10 star rating
