Default Calendar will not run on MySQL

I have the calendar running fine as a flat file, but when ever I try to configure it to run with MySQL as the database I get black bacground with two icons. One icon logs me out, the other is a link to the calendar but it only takes me to a blank white screen. It does this every time, it never promps me to create the database.

Please see http://63.172.77.231//calendar/setup/index.php

During the setup, I always enter the root user and password for the server, the server ip address and for database name I enter "calendar"

Have you created the "calendar" database already?

Is this your own server?

What is the server running on?

FWIW, I can't access your page...

It is our own server, MS Windows 2003 Standart Edition runing IIS 6, I am using the Zend version of the EasyCalendar. No, I did not create the database ahead of time. I thought the EasyCalendar would do that when I clicked Save in the configuration pages. Please try the link again it will work now. The login is admin and the password is girlscout. I will be in your debt if you can help me figure this out.

You must create a user and password in mySQL then create a database using that user.

Then, enter that information into the calendar and if it can successfully connect to the database, it will prompt you to create the "table" for the calendar information in the "database" you created earlier.

To make sure I understand, log on to mysql as user "root", make a database called "calendar" enter information into the calendar program durring set up about database name, user and password. I will be prompted to make a table. Do I understand correctly ?

Usually the host is localhost.

The MySQL server is remote to the webserver. I guess I thought that local host would refer to my local machine which in the case of the easycalendar would be our webserver. I can try localhost an see if that makes a difference. If localhost does not help, then would the format user name an issue ?

If your MySQL server is not installed on the same server as your web server, then yes put the IP of the server and not localhost. But have you confirmed that the MySQL server is set to accept connections over the network? If you have a default install of MySQL it now disables the networking and you have to specifically enable it.
