Question Adding an event takes one minute

After adding an event, editing an existing event or deleting an event, I briefly get the text "The calendar database has been updated..." Then the page is refreshed and the "Find / Filter" button is shown together with "Today" button and the month and year dropdowns.

However, at this point the page freezes for a long time (seems to be exactly one minute) before showing the rest of the page with calendars and the new event (which is updated correctly). I wonder why.

I don't think this problem manifested when I first installed the script but I have edited the settings since and also changed the directory path (updated in script as well). I currently have only a couple of events in the database so this shouldn't be the reason.

There are no delays when just browsing the calendar in the Event Manager or using the other pages. I use MySQL on localhost and have 6.3.24 full license.

Try switching to a flat-file database and see if it does the same thing (just for a test).

I changed "Use a mySQL database for events" to "No" and "Use a flat-file database for events" to "Yes". This did not solve the problem, it still hangs at the same time. (Also the event was not saved - the database file is writable but empty.) I changed this back to database.

If I try to open Setup manager in another window during the one-minute period, it will not open before the wait is over, then the pages load simultaneously.

Sound like you may have a corrupt calendar file in the events directory. Try re-uploading those files and see if it helps.
