Default Altering display features in standard mode

I don't know how to phrase the search, so I've found no answers to this:

In the "Standard display mode" (which I fancy), you have a display of the miniature calender on top (with its color bars representing certain categories which is my main instrument of navigantion for customers searching certain events).

Below the miniature calendar, you have a representation of the various events you've entered, through color coded blocks/rows containing the events entered for that specific month.

My problem is that I've integrated the calender on a spesific existing layout of the main site.
It looks beautiful, until somebody clicks forward to a month with a lot of activities.
The problem is that my background images only take up so much space (vertically). When there are a lot of activities in a displayed month, the horizontal tabular listing of these activities (below the miniature calendar) does not only display the headers of these activities, but displayes the complete content of each entered event!

That means that the listing below the mini calendar extends almost 3 feet of information below the mini calendar!
That completely ruins the design of the page!

Is it possible to alter the display of events in such a way that these "horizontal event bars" only contains the first 20-30 words of the event description instead of showing the complete content?
Ideally 15 to twenty words with a link showing [more...] or something of that nature?

Hope you understand what I'm trying to convey.

The List Mode doesn't have the option to truncate the contents of the event descriptions. Have you considered an scrollable div for the list?

I guess that would solve the layout issue.

Maybe an option to truncate the events description could be a nice feature to add in future versions?
